De Waal Tasting Room

De Waal Wines is nestled in the picturesque Stellenbosch Kloof valley. Two centuries ago, this historic 1791 Cape Dutch Homestead was the “last outpost” on the road between Cape Town and Stellenbosch.

The De Waal family has been involved in winemaking in South Africa for nine generations. Their wines combine Old World finesse and New World abundant fruit.

The De Waal wine ranges includes magnificent red wines and fruit-driven, low-alcohol whites. The interesting offering here is perhaps a selection of three different Pinotages, made in different styles and at different price points. It starts at the entry-level, easy-drinking Pinotage, to the matured, more complex CT de Waal Pinotage, to the exquisite Top of the Hill Pinotage, made from the oldest Pinotage vineyard block in the world.


De Waal Tasting Fee:
Standard Tasting: A selection of 5 wines from the Life Style Range - R50
Premium Tasting: A selection of any 5 wines, including the premium wines and the Top of the Hill Pinotage - R100

* Tasting fee will be waived on wine purchases of R300 or more

Monday to Friday: 9h00 - 16h30
Saturday 10h00 - 16h30


We are closed on the following days:

Sundays, Christmas Day, Day of Goodwill (Boxing Day), New Year’s Day, Easter Weekend and Youth Day.

We are also closed on 24 & 31 December 2021

  • Take the R310/M12 towards Kuils River passing Neethlingshof Wine Estate

  • Turn right at BP garage onto the Stellenbosch Kloof Road

  • Continue on this road for 3 kilometres, DeWaal Wines Manor House is in front of you

  • Follow signs to parking area at the cellar behind the manor house
     

From the N1

  • Take the R300 / Kuils River turn-off from the N1

  • Take the M12 / Stellenbosch turnoff towards Stellenbosch

  • Continue past Kuils River and Saxenburg wine farm

  • After the BP garage turn left onto the Stellenbosch Kloof Road

  • Continue on this road for 3 kilometres, DeWaal Wines Manor House is in front of you

  • Follow signs to parking area at the cellar behind the manor house
     

From the N2

  • Take the R310 Baden Powell Drive / Stellenbosch turn-off

  • Continue straight, passing Spier Wine Estate, until coming to a traffic light at Asara Wine Estate

  • Turn left on M12 towards Kuils River passing Neethlingshof Wine Estate

  • Turn right at BP garage onto the Stellenbosch Kloof Road

  • Continue on this road for 3 kilometres, DeWaal Wines Manor House is in front of you

  • Follow signs to parking area at the cellar behind the manor house
     

From Somerset-West

  • Take the R44 towards Stellenbosch

  • Turn left at the Annandale turn-off opposite Mooiberge farm stall

  • Continue until the T-junction at Zetlerbosch Farm Stall and then turn right onto R310

  • Continue straight passing Spier until coming to a traffic light at Asara Wine Estate

  • Turn left on M12 towards Kuils River passing Neethlingshof Wine Estate

  • Turn right at BP garage onto the Stellenbosch Kloof Road

  • Continue on this road for 3 kilometres, DeWaal Wines Manor House is in front of you

  • Follow signs to parking area at the cellar behind the manor house
